Asus Eee PC 1005PE Product Review
“I do indeed write on the road. My laptop goes with me everywhere”
Wither you are fine with a regular laptop or not, sometimes you feel like it is a bit much. Since people have complained about the size of their laptops and the weight, companies have been able to come up with a new innovation that they call a netbook.
These things are built and made for travel and they are more geared toward the businessmen and women of today’s society and for those who want a simple machine that does everything, but that is also good for travel. The Asus Eee PC 1005PE is a small netbook that provides a pretty powerful punch for a low price. In this article, I will describe what makes this netbook different from other netbooks on the market.
The first thing you need to know about the Asus Eee PC 1005PE is that it is a fairly cheap machine. The price range for this thing is between $330.00 and 360.00 making it very cheap for anyone that is interested in it.
with an eleven-inch widescreen and up to eleven hours of battery life, it is diffidently a good bang for your buck if you’re looking for a small compact workstation. (Amazon.com) Asus Eee PC 1005PE also comes with a three-year manufacturer warranty with an addition of only fifty dollars from most locations, making it well worth the extra investment and still keeping it fairly cheap in the end.
It is important to note that Asus Eee PC 1005PE is a netbook and as a result, the amount of ram or processing speed can’t really be counted as a con, because it is so small and compact that it’s not really meant to be that powerful.
With one gig of ram already installed and a 1.66GHZ processor as well as a two hundred and fifty to five hundred gigs hard drive, it makes for a good portable storage device that also provides you with smooth operation.
Windows seven comes standard with each system and if you’re not a fan of that operating system, this could be considered a con, but you could always install another operating system on it once you get it. Asus Eee PC 1005PE also has a built-in 802.11 wireless connection, making it very good for wireless internet operation. (Amazon.com,http://store.microsoft.com)
As mentioned before, Asus Eee PC 1005PE is very light and it is listed as weighing just four and a half pounds. This makes it easy for you to carry around with hardly any strain wither you are young or old. Also, as mentioned before it has a battery life of eleven hours without a need for a charge, making it the ideal netbook for travel and business operation.
The keyboard layout is standard and it also comes with your standard touchpad. With Asus on one tech support, you can also find comfort in knowing that if you have any issues with your machine you can send it back or talk to Asus without any problems at all. (http://store.microsoft.com,Amazon.com)
Just like a laptop, Asus Eee PC 1005PE has a headphone and microphone jack on the side as well as an Ethernet port for easy internet hardwire access. It also comes with two USB ports, making it powerful enough to meet all your business and travel needs. If you’re worried about it being able to read flashcards, it’s fine, because it has a built-in card reader as well.
The power button is placed on the top of the keyboard making it so that the machine can’t be easily turned off to ensure that you never have to worry about accidental turn off. This netbook also has built-in hotkeys for easy operation and quick access to volume controls. (Amazon.com,http://store.microsoft.com)
While this netbook is good for the price and is definitely a must for those who travel and those who work in business or just want a small computer, there are some problems with it. The first thing you will notice is that the lid attracts tons of fingerprints. Having a laptop with a glossy finish is great and it looks nice, but the problem is that it attracts fingerprints like nothing else.
While they set out to make a great netbook, Asus slipped the bill when they gave you a ten-inch screen when they could have given you an inch or two more of screen space. While ten inches is just fine, it just seems like they could have done more to make it better in the window range department.
The keyboard like most netbooks has very little places for food and other things to get stuck making sure that the keyboard stays clean and can be cleaned easily. The mouse clicking is also a downside on this netbook.
If you can’t take a mouse it makes it a pain in the ass to use. The reason for this is that the clicker is just one solid bar and as a result right and left clicking becomes problematic. Had Asus just make a right and left clicker it would have made things much easier to use. (http://store.microsoft.com,Amazon.com)
All in all Asus Eee PC 1005PE is great and has good upgradeability. While there are some things that need some improving it is definitely one of the better netbooks out on the market. The price range also makes it an easy choice for your everyday operation and the weight definitely helps those who are undecided on wither it is worth it or not.
If you’re looking for a netbook and you’re looking for one that is fairly cheap and has the ability to do a simple task and a little bit more, Asus Eee PC 1005PE is the choice you should make. The battery life is always a plus and not many netbooks if any can beat this netbook’s battery life. (Amazon.com)
