Product Review: Kellogg’s Special K Cereal Bars: Chocolaty Drizzle
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
Kellogg’s Special K Cereal Bars: It is no secret that summer vacations, holiday schedules, family reunions and of course swimsuit weather are all good reasons for many Americans to become a bit picky in their food choices. For those following a sensible eating plan to lose or maintain their weight, it is hard to find a portable, light, nutritious snack that doesn’t pack on the pounds or fill you up with empty calories.
I have tried a wide variety of granola-cereal-snack or protein bars out there and with few exceptions, most are very disappointing. Kellogg’s Special K Cereal Bars one of those few exceptions! My Favorite is the Chocolatey Drizzle flavor!
Packed 6 to a box featuring the big red K on the front, it is easy to locate at most grocery or retail superstores. Each cereal bar is individual wrapped making it very easy to toss one or two in your pocket, or purse for those crazy days hen you may find yourself needing a light bite and stuck in the middle of traffic or other incontinent places!
The size of each bar looks tiny compared to some of the larger, heavier ‘health bars’ on the market, but have you looked at the calorie count to those larger bars? Each Kellogg’s Special K Cereal Bars contains just 90 calories and a surprisingly satisfying flavor and ‘crunch appeal’.
The 90 calories keep this tiny bar on the 100 calorie or last list for snacks that most dieters have in mind for snack time urges. The look is similar to that of rice crispy type treat though lighter, the sweet ingredient holding it all together isn’t as obvious as the thick sticky marshmallow found in rice crispy treats and the ‘drizzle’ of chocolate across the top gives it as much eye appeal as a taste treat. Of course, being a certified ‘chocoholic’ I would love to see more chocolate on top but then it would neither be a ‘drizzle’ or within the 90 calorie range as advertised!
According to the nutritional label, Kellogg’s Special K Bar, chocolate drizzle contains:
90 calories, 17 grams of carbs and 1 gram of protein. Kellogg’s also has a Special K Protein Bar on the market for those low carb-high protein followers. I have yet to try them as so far this tiny wonder fills my need for a ‘little something’ between meals.
Special K cereal bars are also found in Honey Nut, Strawberry, Blueberry, Peaches & Berries as well as Vanilla Crisp. With that many selections, I have no doubt you will find a favorite among them as well.
