Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
One of the cosmetic items that I cannot live without is eyeliner. I have deep-set, relatively small eyes that need some real definition to stand out. To create the eye look that I desire, I often use gel eyeliner and soften it up with a bit of eyeshadow or pencil over it.
“May the wings of your eyeliner always be even”
I like to extend the liner above my eyelashes a bit to create a modified cat-eye look. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner is far superior to pencil and liquid eyeliners, in my opinion, because they don’t create as harsh of a line.
The main issue with gel eyeliners is that they tend to be more expensive than other types of eyeliner. Until now, they have really only been available at the department stores and not at the drug store. I have used Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner from multiple high-end brands and each one cost me about $20 on average.
That isn’t a terribly exorbitant price, but you also have to have the right brush to apply it. The cost for makeup brushes varies but they can be quite pricey.
I was searching for a cheaper alternative, in an attempt to save money, and came across the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. It was marked as a new product and I figured that I would give it a try without a whole lot of hope for it. Another reason that I was drawn to it is that it comes with a small brush that looked like it would work well.
I purchased this gel eyeliner in a brown color. I applied it for the first time and it was true love right away. I was shocked that the brush that comes with it is truly amazing! In fact, it is one of my favorite makeup brushes! I dipped the brush into the gel pot and applied it above my upper lash line and just a bit to my lower lash line. This Maybelline gel eyeliner goes on so smooth and creamy. I was able to apply it quickly with minimal error. It glides right on. The color pays off is great as well. It is honestly a drugstore product with department store qualities.
I have very greasy, oily eyelids and this stayed put all day long. The only thing that may be a drawback is that it takes a while to dry. I don’t know exactly how long but longer than most liquid and gel liners that I have used. The plus side to this is that it’s easier to fix it if you make a mistake.
I live in the Seattle, Washington area and purchased the Maybelline gel eyeliner at a local Walgreen’s store. I paid approximately $9.00 for it. While that is pricey for a drugstore cosmetic item, the quality of this product and the brush are well worth it. This is a true holy grail and I can’t see myself using anything else for a very long time.
